SMART Board software converts handwriting in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. You can convert any note that you make into typed text. However, the method that you use depends on your application.
NOTE: Words that you write with the Creative Pens can't be converted into typed text.
If you're working in Microsoft Word
or Excel, click the Insert as Text
button in the application toolbar. The recognized text appears
in the active file as though you'd typed it with your computer's keyboard.
In other Ink Aware applications, such as
Microsoft Paint, your note is interpreted as an image instead of text.
If you're working in an application that's not Ink Aware, the SMART Board Floating Tools appear so you can save your note into Notebook software, if you wish.
You can also use the Write view in the SMART Keyboard. Click the place in the destination application where you want the text to appear. Then, write your word on the lines in the SMART Keyboard window and press the Send button. Your note appears in the active application or dialog box.
By default, SMART Board software uses your computer's system language to recognize your handwriting. If you want to use handwriting recognition in a different language, you can change it without changing the system language.
The accuracy of the conversion process depends on your handwriting; SMART Board software more accurately interprets neater printing on a horizontal line. Although SMART Board software can convert slanted or cursive writing, it may not do so consistently.
