Changing the Handwriting Recognition Language

SMART Board software converts handwriting in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. By default, SMART Board software recognizes handwriting in your system's current language, but you can change the text recognition language independently of the system's language.

IMPORTANT: If you're using a computer running the Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista Home Basic operating system, you must download Microsoft Tablet PC Recognizer before using handwriting recognition in Chinese, Japanese or Korean. The Tablet PC Recognizer is already installed on other versions of the Windows Vista operating system.

To select a different language for handwriting recognition

  1. Press the SMART Board icon in the notification area and select Control Panel.

  2. Press SMART Board Software Language Settings.

  3. Clear the Use the language above or its most closely related language check box.

  4. Select the language you want to use for text recognition.

  5. Click OK.
