Graduating classes contribute more than $6000 to Foundation Classes of ‘65 and ‘71 exceed goal

The 2008 contribution drive of Candler County Foundation for Public Education saw more than $16,600 raised to sponsor educational opportunities in the county. Board of Education employees themselves contributed largely to the fund, pledging more than $5,500. The Foundation was established in 2006 to provide enrichment opportunities for students in the Candler County School System. Foundation funding allows students to expand their educational experience through programs that are “above and beyond” traditional classroom opportunities.

As part of this year’s campaign, the Foundation members have challenged each graduating class of Candler County to give according to the year of their graduation. The class of 1965 exceeded their goal, raising $1,980, while the class of 1971 raised $2,075. Donations were accepted at one of four levels: Principal Roll, up to $249; Superintendent Roll, $250 to $499; Foundation Partner, $500 to $999; or Hall of Fame Partner, $1000 or more. Although the drive is over, individuals can still contribute to the Foundation. To donate, visit the Candler County Schools website (www.metter.org) and click on the Foundation link.
