Four Grants To Teachers

The Candler County Foundation for Public Education has announced that four grants have been awarded to teachers in the Candler County School System.

Saundra Sparks, Metter Intermediate School teacher, received a grant for $600 for wireless self-amplified ceiling speakers for four math classrooms.

Lafonda Hackett, Metter Middle School teacher, was awarded $380 for Math Fest competition registration fees.

Brenda Deal and Pam Durrence, Metter High School FBLA advisors, received a grant to cover registration fees of $1,400 to the State Conference.

Brent Walden, Metter High School / Metter Middle School band director, was awarded a $1400 grant for bells/cymbals line equipment for 50 students. Students will be allowed to check out the equipment to use at home.

The Foundation has awarded a total of $14,786 to Candler County schools since it was organized in 2006.
